Matt Kuchar withdrew from the WM Phoenix Open on Wednesday following the demise of his father.

Peter Kuchar handed away unexpectedly on Tuesday on the age of 73, his son confirmed to GolfChannel.com.

Peter Kuchar was Matt’s caddie when he gained the 1997 U.S. Newbie and was a daily within the PGA Tour galleries.

“My Pop was an enormous fan of sport and handed on his love of competitors to me,” Matt Kuchar mentioned in a press release. “He was a beautiful individual — an unimaginable grandfather, a loving husband and greatest good friend to my mom, and the perfect father I may have ever hoped for. An avid pickleball participant and outdoorsman, Pop was a person of nice character and a personality in his personal proper.

Matt Kuchar, 46, is a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour.
