The New York Yankees formally positioned designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured checklist Wednesday as he continues to cope with tendinitis in each elbows.
The transfer was retroactive to Monday.
There isn’t a clear timetable for the 35-year-old Stanton’s return. He was bothered by elbow ache final season when he batted .233 with 27 homers and 72 RBIs in 114 video games.
Stanton was one in all eight Yankees positioned on the IL on Wednesday.
Infielder DJ LeMahieu (left calf pressure) was one of many others. He was injured in a spring coaching sport on March 1. LeMahieu, 36, batted .204 with two homers and 26 RBIs in 67 video games final season.
