Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk insists he’s “absolutely dedicated” to the membership as he dismissed reviews suggesting he is able to stop Anfield.
The Netherlands defender’s feedback on whether or not he could be round after supervisor Jurgen Klopp departs this summer time sparked hypothesis he may observe his supervisor out of the door.
Klopp introduced on Friday that he’ll step down on the finish of the season, and, requested whether or not he noticed himself as a part of the following Liverpool period, Van Dijk replied: “That’s an enormous query. Nicely, I don’t know.”
The 32-year-old has 18 months remaining on his present deal and, talking to the Males in Blazers podcast on Tuesday, Van Dijk moved to clear up the uncertainty created since Klopp’s resolution was made public.
“It’s a lot taken out of context,” the centre-back stated of the response to his earlier feedback.
“To be 100 per cent clear, I’m absolutely dedicated to the membership. I really like the membership. I really like the followers. It’s absolutely taken out of context.”
With Liverpool high of the Premier League and within the ultimate of the Carabao Cup, Van Dijk stated ending the Klopp period with silverware stays the precedence.
“It’s not about me, it’s not about I. It’s about us and nothing has modified,” he added.
“5 days in the past we weren’t even talking about my contract so it’s foolish.
“My full focus is on ensuring this 12 months might be very particular, clearly (it was a) large announcement over the past couple of days. It has been a shock to every certainly one of us related to the membership.
