New York Giants signing veteran CB Tre Herndon


After a sequence of tryouts on Tuesday, the New York Giants have determined to signal veteran cornerback Tre Herndon.

NFL Community’s Mike Garafolo, citing Herndon’s illustration, was the primary to report the information.

Herndon, 28, initially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Vanderbilt in 2018. He went on to seem in 83 video games (34 begins), recording 243 tackles (186 solo, 9 for a loss), two compelled fumbles, six QB hits, one sack, 32 passes defensed, and three interceptions.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Herndon had his greatest season in 2019 when he recorded a career-high 55 tackles, 13 passes defensed, and three interceptions.

In 2023, Herndon recorded an total Professional Soccer Focus grade of 70.8, a move rush grade of 87.0, and a protection grade of 73.1.

Herndon joins a cornerback room that features Deonte Banks, Cor’Dale Flott, Nick McCloud, Darnay Holmes, Tre Hawkins, Aaron Robinson, rookie Andru Phillips, and others.

With the signing of Herdon, the Giants now have 91 males on their roster (kicker Jude McAtamney on a roster exemption). The spot was beforehand vacated by tight finish Darren Waller after saying his NFL retirement.
