Sergio Aguero has denied studies he’s set to come back out of retirement to coach with Argentine outfit Independiente.
Aguero was pressured to retire in 2021, simply months after becoming a member of Barcelona from Manchester Metropolis, after being identified with a coronary heart drawback. He has since made appearances in a handful of charity friendlies.
In a latest video, Aguero shared a dialog along with his heart specialist wherein the concept of a return to aggressive soccer was recommended, and that sparked studies that the previous striker was set to coach with Carlos Tevez’s Independiente outfit to see whether or not he nonetheless has what it takes to play professionally.
Taking to Twitch to reply to the rumours, Aguero hit again on the “lies” about his future.
“The information [of a return will be reaching many. It’s totally a lie,” he said. “I’m not going to train with Independiente.
“Sometimes they know that they invent things, because just the other time I spoke to a cardiologist and he told me that I was in good health. But obviously, he said that I am in good health and to return to training at the top level I need to do a lot of studies.”
Indeed, Aguero’s cardiologist did admit a return was “possible” but insisted there was plenty of work to do before such a decision could be made.
“The way things are going so far, you won’t have any problem playing at some point,” the cardiologist said. “Logically we have to do the tests and make you run as if it were a game.
“And obviously, when you have the two central defenders…you have to make a fake or something like that, you have to be well prepared. So I would say…get ready, there is some hope. We can say that you’re doing very well and that you have to get in good enough shape to be there for a few minutes.
“But I see you looking good, you’re doing everything and you didn’t have [side effects]. We will monitor you just a little bit extra. In brief…it is potential, sure it is potential. You might be doing very properly.”
