Toronto Awarded WNBA Growth Franchise Starting In 2026


Toronto has been awarded a WNBA franchise starting within the 2026 season. The franchise will probably be owned by Kilmer Sports activities Inc., which is run by Larry Tanenbaum.

Tanenbaum is a minority proprietor and chairman of sporting big Maple Leafs Sports activities and Leisure which owns the Maple Leafs, Raptors, TFC, Argos and Marlies.

Tanenbaum reportedly tried to buy the crew via MLSE, however different members of the board turned down the chance.
